Киноманы оказались в шоке от решения компании Disney снять в главной роли в фильме-ремейке «Русалочка» темнокожую актрису.
Не имея ничего против Холли Бейли, молодой певицы, которую выбрали на роль русалочки Ариэль, пользователи соцсетей спорят о неподобающей замене расы персонажа.
Ведь в мультфильме 1989 года, который Disney намерен переснять, русалочка была совсем другой - белокожей и красноволосой.
Итак, в Disney представили миру будущую Ариэль, роль которой исполнит Холли Бейли. Конечно, жесткие споры были вызваны ее цветом кожи.
Обычно Disney снимает ремейки почти покадрово - ровно так, как было в оригинальных мультфильмах. Во всяком случае, в образы главных героев старались попадать.
Так было с «Красавицей и Чудовищем», «Аладдином» и другими фильмами.
На американских форумах типа Twitter фанаты Disney разделились во мнениях. Одним приглянулась Бейли за ее внешние и вокальные данные, другие же считают, что отклонение от оригинала неприемлемо.
То есть, дело не в неприятии черного актера как такового.

Mermaid fan art - and the people looking for it and sharing it - has gone into hyper drive now that singer-actor Halle Bailey is gearing up to portray Disney's Ariel in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. And though there's been some social media backlash over casting a young black woman in a role that in the early 90s was granted to an imaginary creature with pale skin and red hair, that conversation is certainly not the dominant narrative.
Instead, what is readily clear is that artists are 100% here for imagining mermaids of various hues and hair. (Meanwhile, there is a long, global history of mermaids of all colors and cultures, but more on that later.)

Disney’s Live-Action ‘Little Mermaid’ Casts Halle Bailey as Ariel

Chloe x Halle member Halle Bailey is ready to become part of Disney’s world.
The R&B singer has been tapped to play Ariel in Disney’s next live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid.” Although director Rob Marshall has spent the last couple of months meeting with talent, insiders say Bailey has been a clear front runner from the beginning.
“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” Marshall said in a statement.
Bailey is joining a cast that includes Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina, while Melissa McCarthy is in talks to play Ursula.
“The Little Mermaid” will incorporate original songs from the 1989 animated hit as well as new tunes from original composer Alan Menken and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda is also producing the film along with Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca.
